My First Step Out
I worked for 5 1/2 hours! CRAZY. Our friend has an in-home-care business. He had a hospice case and needed women to help cover hours for the 99 year old lady coming home for the last time. Talk about jumping in with both feet!
Long story short. . .I Loved it! I was surprised at how similar the whole process was to labor/birth/infant care. I took care of her grieving friends as much as I took care of her. I am also thankful that she passed-away 40 min. after the end of my shift. . .we'll save that experience for later.
I am struck at the beauty of all times of life--to the very last minute. Or 40 minutes before the very last minute. Sometimes things being as they should be includes suffering. Embracing life, and loving it, ultimately does mean pain, loss, grief. But when it is in relation to joy, faith, and grateful abundance, it is right.
I couldn't have asked God to provide a better introduction into this working-Mama adventure! Now I just have to get accepted into the CNA class!!

Borrowed Computers
I'm on one. . .but ours is at least in the house! John has to start grad work soon so we will be getting hooked up. And I found the Camera--get ready for some "trip in review" posts!
I'm looking into taking the CNA class (Certified Nurse Assistant) at the local hospital in an effort to support the family while John is in school. This is a BIG step for me--since I am totally a stay-at-home-mom at heart. But I also see the goals we have as a family, and see that at the end of 2 years we will be in a MUCH better place if we keep those goals in view. GOD is Good--and I am feeling excited about these changes!
BUT--I did start weeping when I opened the Thank-You note from Ecce Veritas, with all the students and instructors in front of Holy Rosary. I am happy to be home--but miss the ease of my modern life in Oregon. . .CNA work=Modern Life. . .my new mantra.

Inter-Regnum
We havn't quite moved in yet. We got to the EMPTY house and John couldn't resist the chance to finally lay a floor downstairs. So, in the ultimate act on concession, I rented a storage space at the end of our road. Yes--Allison--the one who has spend years lammenting the STUFF-FILLED culture that has people paying rent for their useless c**p--I have one too! But in exchange I will get a nice floor, so I'm happy.
The camera is somewhere in the storage shed--so is the computer--so my posting will be spotty and non-illustrated for a while.
It sure is hot and humid over here in Maine!!
